Andrea L. Hegedus and Smile Design Team

Andrea L. Hegedus, CDT, BS, is the owner of Great Lakes Smile Design Studio in Muskegon, Michigan, USA. Building a career in dentistry over the last 27 years, Andrea has completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Prosthodontics from Ferris State University in 1990. She is an alumni crusader, class of ’88, from Muskegon Catholic Central.

Hegedus was recently published in the October 2012 issue of Dental Products Report Magazine as “Top Twenty Five Women in Dentistry” for her work and commitment to the dental profession.

Hegedus has received international recognition by entering the 9th KunstZahnWerk (the art of prosthetics) Competition 2011 at the world’s largest 34th International Dental Show in Cologne Germany. She received the 2nd place award for best “Digital Documentation” and placed in the top 15 overall. The awards were presented by Candulor during the company’s press conference at the Cologne Conference Center.

Andrea inspired the Candulor Company to host the 1st North American KunstZahnWerk Competition 2012. The Candulor awards were presented during the annual “Lab Day meeting” held in Chicago, IL. She received 2nd place for best “Digital Documentation” and placed 3rd overall.

She is currently a published author on new dental lab products in Dental Lab Products Magazine and Lab Management Today Magazine. In her hometown community, Andrea has organized a team of doctors to participate in a local Extreme Mini Makeover with a local News Program “Take Five” on WZZM13.com. Hegedus is currently a Lead Pioneer and Health Advocate with Next Level Practice to help mobilize the Complete Dental Health movement, a mind/mouth/body dental health connection.

She is a sustaining member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has passed the written exam for Accreditation. She also is a member of the University of Michigan’s Francis B. Vedder Study Club, American College of Prosthodontists, NADL, and MACDL. She supports the United Way, Red Cross, Donated Dental Services, started a running team for Hope Project USA, and actively participates in the AACD’s program “Give Back A Smile” for domestic abuse.

Andrea has completed postgraduate courses on Functional Anterior Aesthetics, Advanced Anterior Aesthetics & Reconstruction with Pac-Live at the University of Pacific Dental School and Synergy in Advanced Education in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry with The Hornbrook Group at the University of Texas, Houston Dental Branch. Andrea has studied under ceramic masters, Matt Roberts, Marv Staggs, Oliver Brix, Michel and Inge Magne, Otto Prandtner, and leading dental surgeons, Dr. David Hornbrook, Dr. Mark Montgomery, Dr. Ron Ritsco, and Dr. James Hastings.
